Recently, CMS published a MedLearn Matters Article to provide instructions on the enforcement of 424.516 (f)(1) and (f)(2), regarding the maintenance requirements of ordering and certifying documentation.

Effective October 1, 2012, DMEPOS suppliers must maintain documentation of 7 years from the date of service and upon the request of CMS or a Medicare contractor, provide access to that documentation.
